Broadway Debut ... April 18th, 2023!

A whirlwind trip to NYC -
April 17-19th!
How could I miss Beka’s Wicked Broadway Debut?
James and I traveled to NYC on the 17th,
met at Laguardia Airport and checked into our
hotel, just a block from the Gershwin!
This was how I surprised Beka!  James
went into her apartment and I met them
when they came out!!
We had a lovely dinner close by then strolled
the neighborhood.  I loved seeing and feeling
where Beka will be living for at least the
next year!
We met for brunch the next morning with Beka
and Root.  We walked them home so Beka
could prep for the big night!
James and I walked back to our hotel, via Columbus Circle.
James had stayed at the Mandarin Oriental hotel for work,
so we had drinks overlooking Central Park and the city.
Amazing views!
We got flowers for Beka and went back to our hotel
to get ready for stage door pictures!
So amazing to have great company seats to see
Wicked on Broadway & Beka’s first
performance!  It was fantastic and so very
exciting!
 Beka’s first bows on Broadway!!!
We went out with Wicked friends from tour after the show!
So great to know the people Beka will hanging with!
We met for coffee and walking Root in Central Park
the next morning.  So glad Beka is living close to this
oasis in the middle of the big city!
Beka had a two show day, so we rode the
subway with her back to the theater!
We had to say goodbye at the stage door.
So thankful we were able to be there
to support her.  Till next time!
We checked out of our hotel,
then walked through Times Square and the city!
We stopped for lunch at a lovely yummy spot.
So special to hang with James.
We were on the same flight to Denver,
exhausted from an amazing trip!
Beka had her Glinda put-in after we left.
Nessa put-in is next week.  She moves into her
own apartment on May 2nd and will be
able to settle into normal life in NYC, having
learned 3 roles, finding an apartment, while
performing 8 shows a week!
What a month for her!

Winter 2023

We enjoyed a busy cold winter ... our gorgeous desert!
Tim hiked up to this cave and went on many bike rides.
We painted the pottery that we made over Christmas... fun!!
Sent James and Beka theirs - the white ones.
We went on a Desert Belle cruise on Saguaro Lake with Ken
and Elaine!  A Beach Boys cover band played music...
It was a great very cold time!!!
Cousin Gerald and Kathleen visited - they were camping
in the area with their grandson!  So great to see
them - it’s been 20 years!
Finally had Emsley over to spend the night - first time by
herself!  Took her to a youth theater show in Scottsdale and
enjoyed hanging out!
Got new rocking chairs for this grandma and grandpa for
our front patio!  So much more comfy!
First time we’ve ever had snow that stuck!
Crazy cold winter!
Had Adah over, too! So special to spend time with and get to
know these growing up grandkids!  They are the best!!
Spent the winter spreading 75 tons of gravel -
5 dump loads that re-coated the whole yard!
Got help moving one load to the opposite side of the yard...
so nice having a neighbor with a gravel business!
So much easier to keep clean and lovely to look at!
St. Patrick’s Day celebrating with our Irish gang!
Corned Beef and Cabbage and all the trimmings...
and fun game playing!
Owen, our 13 yr old grandson, flew here by himself from
San Antonio!!! He saved his money to be able to visit us,
his cousins and his previous neighbor Mrs. Lipinski!
He stayed for a week, helped us move gravel
and was a pleasure to have.  We’ve entered
a different phase of life!!
A day after Owen left, we made an quickly planned trip to LA!
Beka’s going to Broadway!!  We went over to load up her stuff
to store in AZ with her car and some to ship to NYC.  It was
great timing... we were able to celebrate James’ graduation
from college, too!  So proud of him as he finished an on-line
Music Business degree from Berklee College of Music
while working full time that last few years!
Beka and Root are off to New York to join the Broadway
Company of Wicked ... for at least a year!
Root is a trained service dog so she can fly with Beka!
Exciting big changes for her!
In the midst of all this crazy we worked on getting the
HeARTs Encounter Book published!  Been working on getting
Annette’s writings and artwork organized for almost 6 years.
What a learning process but I’m calling it done!
 We finished the website, too:
The book’s release date is May 6th - Annette’s 69th Birthday!
Pre-order it here or anywhere books are sold.
