Fall 2011

A busy Fall!
After moving James home from Ohio in August,
he got a job at P F Changs in Scottsdale!
It's a great fit for him and is transferable to LA :)

Beka and I then set off for Boston to get her settled her new apartment!
Sept. 1st is a crazy moving day in Boston...this is her street!
Her room...after trips all over town to find the stuff!
She and I moved and assembled a bed, dresser, desk, bookcase and chair from Ikea!
I now think we can do anything!!!!
While there I got my job - I am now a Retail Merchandiser for Hallmark!
I service three stores and work for the best boss in the world -
My best bud Sue!!!!
Soon after the start of the school year - Beka got her job!
She was cast in the Conservatory Cabaret, a group of 10 kids
that perform around the city!  Such a blessing as it's a paid
gig and a great group of kids that perform for needy folks around town!
James and I took a little trip in October to see Beka perform
in her Cabaret for Friends and Family Weekend.  We had a great
time running around the City and being together!

Grandbabies are growing up!
Owen turned 2 in August...
Adah turned 3 and Emsley turned 1 in November!!

So days are full these days with everyone working and
having time just being together!!!
Lots more pics of fun times!

Summer 2011 - Change!

Well...guess it's time for an update ... it's been 8 whole months!
Life sure has a way of changing course :)
Both James and Beka were home for the summer -
so great to have them both here and together for a few short months.

 Special times!
Sibling fun!
 Fun in the sun...
 ...and water!

It was a summer of re-evaluation and re-focus!
After spending many hours talking, crying, talking and praying - decisions were made!
James decided not to return to CCM, realizing Musical Theater isn't what he wants to do...
instead focusing on earning money to be able to move to LA and pursue acting.
We decided Beka had to return to Boston to pursue her degree in Musical Theater,
but decided both she and mom would have to get jobs to make that happen!

I finally got the coffee maker of my dreams and can now make exceptional espresso!
When displayed next to everyone else's machine...
this looks like an addiction problem :)
We all love our brew and just sitting, talking!

Before sending Beka off to school, we got together for a "revealing" party!
The Nelsons are having another boy in January!
Happy Days!
Our best shot of the whole gang...
this gets harder and harder!
More summer pics!

Boston Trip!

My 4th time to Boston this year!
Occasion this time was to see Beka in ...
The Fantastics!
Added bonus:  my brother Tom and sister Lisa joined me!
We saw Beka do a "Fantastic" job as Luisa in all three performances
at The Boston Conservatory!
We also saw "One Touch of Venus" there...and sure enjoyed it all!
We had a little time with Beka - though she was so busy
with rehearsals, performances and midterms - poor baby!
In front of her dorm!
At Pavement - Beka's favorite coffee shop -
now we know why...great coffee and great atmosphere!
After one of her shows Uncle Tom took us all
to the top of the Prudential building for treats -
beautiful views of the city at night from the 52nd floor!
We enjoyed many special meals out...
This was at Sonsie, on Newbury St...
Great sibling times!
Another evening we went to the Union Oyster House -
oldest restaurant in continuous service in the U.S...
(This pic is from when I went there in May -
It was freezing there this time!!!)
...where we had delicious clam chowder!
Notice the Freedom Trail (The red brick road in front ?)
We walked the whole trail and enjoyed seeing all the historical landmarks!
In three days we walked over 10 miles all around the city -
earning all the good food we ate!
Lisa and I enjoyed a meal together, after Tom left,
at Bell in Hand Tavern ... The oldest Tavern in the US!
We had to stop at Mike's Pastries in the Italian district
in the North End!  It totally lived up to all the recommendations!
Another great spot was lunch at Galleria Umberto!
Again in the Italian district...just a down home, simple place with
great food and nice people!  We asked the locals where
to get the best pizza...and this was it!  Check out the
cheap prices and pics...what a great little place!
Do you recognize this sign...
It's in the book, "Make Way For Ducklings"?
Lisa and I loved seeing this...
so many memories reading this book to our kids!
Adorable brass sculpture in the park!

We stayed at Hilton Boston Back Bay!
Great rates this time of year and just a 5 minute walk to Beka's school!
On Sunday we stopped back there from being out and about
just as a church service was letting out...
Looks like a great option for Beka
and soooo close!  The next day as I was at
Pavement with Beka, the one leader we met at the
church walked up to chat!
God is amazing!
Another reason for this trip was to try to find an apartment
for Beka for next year.  I had searched for hours on-line
and talked to many realtors before my trip.  I drew
boundaries map for where we were looking...walking distance
to school.  Long story short: this is the place I thought
would be great - but couldn't get ahold of anyone before
I got there. Check out the map to see where
this actually is...nothing could be closer!
We walked by it on the Sunday and asked God
to open doors cause it seemed so perfect!
Miracles do happen!  We were able to see it, sign papers,
get it rented - all within a matter of a few hours the next day!
The amazing thing is that it's less $ than most, in a condo
building (so less noisy), and so close to school!
This is what you see when you step out the front door...
The school is straight ahead!
We're so thankful to the Lord for providing the perfect place!

All this is just 3 1/2 days in Boston...
 a wonderful amazing trip!
